Grief is a difficult emotion that cannot be solved simply by eating healthier. However, certain foods can help you re-energize and boost your mood, often placating grieving. Here are 3 foods that will help you deal with grief.
- Avocados: These power-fruits are high in vitamin C, antioxidants, and healthy fats like monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. Avocados will give you energy, decrease anxiety, depression, and help you absorb more nutrients like beta carotene (Lexi Yoga)
- Dark Chocolate Everyone loves chocolate and for good reason. Dark chocolate, especially in controlled amounts, can be wonderful for you. Its Flavonoids protect cells from harmful molecules—called free radicals, preventing heart disease. Additionally, eating dark chocolate releases endorphins, chemicals in the brain that bring pleasure (rd.com)
- BananasB-A-N-A-N-A-S; it’s bananas. Not only a good source of potassium, bananas contain vital antioxidants, beta-carotene, trytophan, vitamin C, and vitamin B6. These substances charge your immune system, prevent heart disease and cancer, regulate your nervous system and reduce symptoms of anxiety and insomnia. They also contain serotonin, which naturally helps to overcome depression (lexi yoga).
Although these foods will not completely get rid of your grieving, hopefully they’ll help boost your mood if only for a little bit.
